Poet of Hip-Hop

The poet of hip hop is a heavy phrase to be thrown around, but with a discovery as rich as Lamar’s, one would understand the significance of his career. Early on, he was signed with Top Dawg Entertainment(TDE), and with their help, he released his breakthrough album “section.80,” gaining critical traction and setting the stage for his extravagant career in hip hop. Soon after leading to the takeoff after the release of “Good Kid, m.A.A.d City” (2012) established a presence within the major music levels of hip-hop. He used his gift for intricate lyricism to start a movement engaging with social and cultural issues, giving a cause to a song. Listeners and fans developed a following based on the sheer poeticness of the albums.

Moving to his more well-recognized albums, such as “To Pimp to a Butterfly” and “DAMN,”. These were breakthrough anthem albums for the new generation with songs like “Humble” and “bitch Don’t kill my vibe.” Still on repeat today. Further partnering with the film The Black Panther exploits multifaceted talent; film scoring and album creation are two separate arts, and blending isn’t easy. Arguably, the most poetic and culturally significant album in his discovery is “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,” Through this album, he chose to take bold steps into emotional vulnerability, mental health, and self-exploration, signalling a new chapter in both his personal life and his public persona.

This bold and unforgettable album is consistently Kendrick, poetic and entrancing. This is long-awaited and should be listed for oneself taking extra time to listen to the lyricism. “GNX” collaborates with Jack Antonoff featuring SZA, Dody6, and more. The album is yet another poetic journey through Mr. Lamar’s life, deeply personal, introspective, and experimental, giving the listener relatability and honesty.
