Romanian designer Ancuța Sarca debuted her label at the 2019 London Fashion Week. Known for her iconic Nike soccer boots turned kitten heels, Ancuța reimagined sports shoes, the conventionally masculine footwear, with a feminine twist. Tapping into the Retro Athletic fashion trend, many artists wore Ancuța’s designs such as Cher, Rihanna, Doja Cat, Bella Hadid and more.
Masha Popova
Masha Popova definitely devoured the Y2K trend with its mix of high fashion and free spirituality of the late 20th century. Denim and butterfly motifs are key elements throughout her designs. The brand unquestionably caught the attention of Y2K-styled celebrity icons – Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Kylie Jenner, just to name a few. Safe to say, Masha clearly understood what to deliver to the Gen Z community.
The Winter House
Speaking of trends, we can’t overlook The Winter House. Found in 2022 by Creative Director Liam Winter, the brand will be launching its first London Fashion Week collection. Liam links his expertise in Creative Direction with his designs. The products are more than just jewelry – they tell a story. The Y3K futuristic aesthetic is eminent in the repurposed recycled metal, sculpted perfectly against the skin. Face pieces, earrings, necklaces, rings – Liam’s maximalist and unconventional work is far different from your usual jewelry.
Chopova Lowena
Chopova Lowena is not an unfamiliar name in the fashion scene. The brand is a vibrant mixture of punk and folklore, contemporary and traditional, nostalgic and modern. Unsurprisingly, this unique aesthetic has captured the hearts of many celebrities including Madonna, Charli XCX, and Harry Styles. Designers Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena continue to break gender norms and revolutionize the fashion world with their trademark upcycled patchwork skirts and multi-layering. Now, the duo is back again for the SS25 London Fashion Week to deliver another ambitious approach.
Yaku
Founded in 2023, Yaku is the newest brand on our list yet equally significant. The SS25 showcase is a continuation of designer Yaku Stapleton’s ongoing series, ‘The ImPossible Family Reunion in RPG Space’, with this upcoming one being the 4th chapter. Inspired by anime, Sci-Fi, and Afro-Futurism, Yaku removes the boundary between imagination and reality. The brand is not only creating fashion but also art. The models are characters stomping into a miniature village. They are performing in a film, paired with conceptual, maximalist garments in an alternative future. Needless to say, there is simply no limit to Yaku’s designs.
Dreaming Eli
London-based Italian designer, Elisa Trombatore, started her journey strong by having her MA Fashion graduate collection at Central Saint Martins; one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world, and featured in multiple reputable fashion magazines. Since then, her brand, Dreaming Eli, has been a prominent candidate in fashion weeks. Victorian-styled corsets crinkled and distressed silk fabrics, and hand-embroidered details are some of the signature components in Elisa’s designs, which could all be easily spotted in her most recent SS24 collection.
Sinéad O’Dwyer
We cannot conclude the list without Sinéad O’Dwyer! As the Zalando Visionary Award winner, the brand’s showcase at the recent SS25 Copenhagen Fashion Week was a huge success. Form-fitted garments worn by models of various sizes, Sinéad is determined to include body diversity in her work. Besides the signature lattice bodysuits and cut-up dresses, the collection featured denim pieces accented with silver hardware, and lace-up flats created in collaboration with Grounds Footwear. We are excited to see what Sinéad has in store for this London Fashion Week.
A Celebration of Creativity & Style
Most of the brands mentioned above are talents who graduated from the British Fashion Council NewGen, a program providing financial support and mentorship to newly developing labels. With such an incredible lineup of innovative designers, this year’s London Fashion Week promises to be unforgettable which you would not want to miss out on.
