Met Gala 2025 – Music Stars on the Red Carpet
On the first Monday in May, the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art are transformed to host one of fashion’s biggest nights of the year: The Met Gala. This week, music royalty showed up to conduct the show, leading as some of the event’s best-dressed attendees. While the worlds of fashion and music have always overlapped, this year’s guest list proved the two industries are more intertwined than ever. And with Pharrell Williams leading the charge as one of the evening co-chairs, it’s no surprise some of the biggest names in music dressed to impress.
The 2025 Met Gala’s theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which celebrated the history of Black style and Dandyism and was inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.” The night highlighted the legacy of Black designers and Black Dandyism, which dates back to the 18th century. Think: pinstripes with pearls, pantless suits and capes as long as the stairs of The Met.
Here’s a look at how some of music’s biggest names interpreted this year’s theme and delivered some of the night’s most talked-about looks.

Pharrell Williams (co-chair)
The singer, songwriter and music producer was one of the co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala, and he made sure to dress the part. Williams wore a Louis Vuitton suit adorned with 100,000 pearls, which he accessorized with a pair of black sunglasses.

A$AP Rocky (co-chair)
Known for his fashion expertise ever since he dropped his first records, the rapper and Met Gala co-chair was dressed by his own creative agency, AWGE. Rocky completed his look with a custom umbrella by Briony Raymond. The umbrella’s handle was shaped like a pistol, which fans speculated was in reference to his recent gun assault trial, where he was found not guilty.

Sabrina Carpenter
Grammy-award winner Sabrina Carpenter arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a look by Louis Vuitton. The burgundy pin-striped bodysuit featured a blazer, tailcoat and, perhaps most notably, no pants. Carpenter told Vogue that co-chair Pharrell Williams advised her to ditch the trousers due to her short height.

Bad Bunny
When he wasn’t busy surprising fans by announcing his upcoming world tour, the reggaeton icon posed on the carpet in his custom umber-brown suit from Prada. The Grammy-winning artist (literally) topped off his look with a pava hat, a garment traditionally worn in the Puerto Rican countryside.

Rihanna
The master of making pregnancy look sexy, Rihanna, announced her third baby on the way in an all-black mix between a suit and gown by Marc Jacobs. Arriving fashionably late at 10 p.m., the singer and founder of Fenty Beauty wore a cropped jacket, bustier bodysuit and pinstriped maxi skirt. Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey’s black and brown look hinted at some potential “Summertime Sadness” for 2025. The singer’s long-sleeve Valentino gown was designed by the brand’s new creative director, Alessandro Michele, who walked the carpet with Del Ray. Although the Grammy-nominated artist noticeably didn’t attend with her husband Jeremy Dufrene, who works as a captain for an airboat tour company in swamps and marshes, Del Rey paid tribute to him at the event via her gold alligator hair clips.

Charli XCX
It seems the Brat era is really over. Charli XCX switched her aesthetic to a gothic look for this year’s Met Gala. The Grammy winner wore Ann Demeulemeester by Stefano Gallici and could easily be identified by the feathers sticking out from her hair. She posed in a cropped tailored jacket, sheer skirt and above-the-knee black leather boots, completing the look with some extra feathers on her chest.

Chappell Roan made this year’s Met Gala her own “Pink Pony Club” with her all-pink suit. The popstar, making her Met Gala debut this year, arrived in an oversized patchwork magenta coat trimmed with glimmered pink fur. Before taking the blue carpet, Roan ditched the coat to reveal a matching bedazzled patchwork jacket with a coordinating pair of bell-bottoms.

Dua Lipa
Lipa’s Chanel gown proved that sometimes less really is more. The plunging V-neck look featured a sheer black torso, gloves, straps and the lower part of the skirt and was accessorized with a diamond Chanel necklace. In place of the bare skin were diamonds, crystals and feathers, and the dress entailed 45,000 embroidered elements in all, a look that took 2,000 hours to make. Lipa originally arrived in a sheer black cape that fanned out behind her and complemented the top half of her skirt, which was made up of black feathers.

Doja Cat
Staying true to her name, the rapper sported a feline Marc Jacobs look for this year’s event. Doja Cat wore a pinstripe bodysuit with dramatic shoulder pads and oversized sleeves. The legendary popstar proved pantsuits are in, after arriving in a monochrome white suit. The off-white jacket and pants were styled with a white button-up shirt, bow tie, boutonniere and lace gloves. The iconic rapper showcased a Thom Browne look for her eighth Met Gala appearance. The pinstripe, two-piece ensemble consisted of a wide-neck top and mermaid skirt with thinner stripes than the jacket. Lorde
The “Royals” singer chose a three-piece, iron gray look for the gala. In contrast to the dark colour schemes making up a majority of the Met Gala, Shakira was seen in a blush pink dress with cutouts running down the sides of her torso. The look, created by Prabal Gurung, featured a voluminous train beginning above the singer’s backside and was styled with sheer black polka-dotted gloves.

Diana Ross
For the first time in 2022 years, Diana Ross returned to the Met Gala, and she made sure no one missed it. The star of the show was the singer’s off-the-shoulder cape, which consisted of an 18-foot-long train (which had the names of her children and grandchildren stitched in, she told Vogue). Ross also wore a wide-brimmed hat covered in white feathers.

Mary J. Blige
Another participant in the pinstripe trend, Blige, wore a high-waisted cream suit consisting of the pattern that Stella McCartney designed. Rosalía
The Spanish singer arrived on the steps of The Met in a plain white custom Balmain gown, however, the look was created with a purpose. To help the vision get across to viewers, Rousteing carried a sewing machine while posing for pictures.

The Academy Award-winning filmmaker, musician, producer, director and New York Times bestselling author already proved he’s versatile. This year, his Met Gala look was no different. Sporting a black and white pinstripe suit by Gabriela Hearst that was reminiscent of Beetlejuice, the look was elevated with thousands of embroidered pearls. But the suit wasn’t just something pretty to look at —it was an ode to his father, late singer Lee Andrews, who wore nothing but suits for decades, according to Vogue.

Pusha T
Grammy-winning rapper Pusha T arrived at the 2025 Met Gala in a striped burgundy suit by Louis Vuitton.
