Sum 41 – A Farewell to One of Canada’s Premier Bands

Grammy-nominated band Sum 41 delivered an electrifying performance with their signature sound at Canada Life Place in London, Ontario, thrilling fans with a robust set of hits and fan favourites. It was a bittersweet, exhilarating farewell celebration for the legendary Canadian rock band.

Tour of the Setting Sum is the final tour for Sum 41’s final album, Heaven :x: Hell. The album was teased with singles and music videos up to its release in March 2024.

The tour, which began in January 2024 in Seoul, South Korea, also helped tease the album. The tour ended on January 30, 2025, in Toronto.

This will be the last tour the band foresees playing as the members retire Sum 41 and go their separate ways.

The band formed in Ajax, Ontario, in 1996 and blew up with their first hit, “Fat Lip”, from their debut album, All Killer No Filler.

The night at Canada Life began with bands Gob and PUP. With a captivating performance of hard rocking, and heart-stopping adrenaline, their contributions to amping up the evening by their display of pure talent, were achieved as the crowd started to pack in.

By showtime, the energy started to pick up immensely. As the seats filled and the crowd grew larger, the venue, Canada Life Place, buzzed with anticipation for the long-awaited, iconic sound of Sum 41 to blow through the speakers.

From the moment of the first blast and the second, they stepped out on stage, the crowd erupted. With exceptional crowd play, Sum 41 blew the roof off Canada Life Place with their veteran experience on display, easily captivating the audience with a narrative told throughout their performance.

From classic songs like “Over My Head”, ”No Reason” and “The Hell Song” packed in with hard-hitting solos from the heavy-handed drummer Frank Zummo, to amazing guitar shredding from leading guitarists Dave Baksh and Tom Thacker. Each member’s true talent glistened on the final stretch of the tour.

Lead singer Deryck Whibley’s excellent vocal presence guided the crowd’s momentum. Backing vocalist Jason McCaslin’s stylish compliments sounded as immense as ever, invoking a tailored exuberance of expression for each audience member in unison.

With a mosh pit in the middle and love for the band all around, the night had a special fragrance in the arena, engulfing all in a momentous moment.

They shed light on the importance of the Sum 41 family and their remarkable three-decade journey around the world.

They navigated through both nostalgic and life’s challenges, showcasing their enduring, undeniable talent, cementing their legacy and the unbreakable bond with the band and fans alike.

It was a night to remember for all that were lucky enough to experience it.

Hats off to the remarkable career and the longevity of such an iconic sound and remarkable band that at one point devoured the scene of punk/alternative music and reigned supreme throughout the 90s and beyond.

Long live the sound of Sum 41.
