Since the opening of iconic clubs like Pacha and Amnesia in the 1970s, Ibiza has been the leading destination for EDM lovers. With the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea, the island offers a unique atmosphere that draws millions of visitors each year. However, Ibiza has some competition.

Known for its state-of-the-art casinos along the 4.2-mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard (commonly referred to as the Strip), Las Vegas has established itself as the world’s gambling capital. The growth of the EDM genre in the early 2000s dramatically transformed the landscape. The city is now home to nightclubs like OMNIA and Hakkasan, which attract the biggest DJs in the industry.

Star-Studded Residencies
Typically, DJs have contractual agreements to perform their sets at a particular venue. For example, David Guetta recently announced his two-year residency at LIV Nightclub. In Las Vegas, it is common for top DJs to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars per show.
Guetta will join an impressive lineup that includes John Summit, Calvin Harris, and Tiësto. Like many clubs on the Strip, LIV is located inside a luxurious hotel. These DJs are just an elevator ride away for guests at the Fontainebleau Hotel.
The EDM scene has increased tourism in the city, which in turn benefits hotels. The economic impact is undeniable.
Electric Daisy Carnival
The addition of EDC Las Vegas in 2011 further solidified the city’s status as the ultimate rave destination. It is now recognized as the biggest dance music festival in North America. The event’s breathtaking fireworks and art installations provide the perfect backdrop for high-energy sets. The EDC 2024 lineup did not disappoint. Over 500,000 people attended to see big names like Carl Cox, Eric Prydz, and Alesso.

Sphere
Nightclubs aren’t the only places to see DJ sets in Las Vegas. In 2023, Sphere opened its doors just off the Strip. This 18,600-seat auditorium features a wraparound LED display along with top-tier audio technology, making it the perfect venue for any rave. Anyma will be putting on the venue’s first EDM concert this New Year’s Eve. Due to high demand, the Italian DJ recently added additional dates in January.

While Ibiza’s beach clubs are intriguing,
Las Vegas should be on every EDM lover’s bucket list. Between nightclubs, festivals, and immersive venues, there is a wide range of experiences to be had. The increase in tourism has not only benefited hotels but also the city as a whole.
