On April 29th, 2024, American singer Billie Eilish announced her new tour, which is in support of her third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. The tour began September 29, 2024, in Quebec City and since then has gained traction amongst music enthusiasts.
Seven-time Grammy-winning artist Billie Eilish is widely known for her unique voice and oversized clothing style. Eilish made her debut in 2015 with the single “Ocean Eyes”, which was written by her brother Finneas O’Connell. The song became an overnight sensation; not only was the song listed on Billboard Hot 100, but it also crossed around 1 billion streams on Spotify, making it the most streamed song by a new artist at that time.

Evolution of Billie through her Albums
Eilish has released three studio albums: When We All Fall Sleep, Where Do We Go, Happier Than Ever and her most recent album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. All three albums are completely different from each other, not only in music but also in form, genre, graphics and production.
Billie Eilish’s First Album
The theme of her first album, When We All Fall Sleep, Where Do We Go, was very dark and focused more on her nightmares and mental health issues. One of the notable aspects of the album was how it reflected her personal experience and her journey with Tourette syndrome. In her interview with David Letterman in 2022, Billie mentioned that from age 11 she was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome. Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder that may cause unwanted or repeated vocal sounds called tics. Despite the obstacles, Eilish’s debut album could still publish multiple hit songs. Songs like ‘Bury a Friend’ and ‘Bad Guy’ were game-changers because they depicted contrasting yet interconnected themes that explored the complexities of fear, anxiety, and identity.

Eilish’s Second Album
Her second album, Happier Than Ever, depicted a journey of self-discovery, emotional growth and the complexities of relationships. The title of her tracks from the album incorporated various themes, from love to heartbreak. The entire album again is baked on her self-exploration. At the beginning of the songs, she is trying to deal with the pressure of fame and feeling vulnerable at the same moment, while later songs demonstrate a more powerful tone with newfound confidence. Overall, Happier Than Ever demonstrates Billie Eilish’s artistic evolution through its mature themes, exploring self-reflection and independence. Her vocal performance is more dynamic, shifting from soft to powerful moments. The production blends various genres like jazz and rock, moving beyond her earlier minimalist style, and showcasing a bolder and more experimental sound.
Her Third Album
The third and most recent album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, is the namesake of Eilish’s current tour. The album is a mix of both electronic and acoustic instruments; the album is a blend of different genres.

A Tour that Hits Different
Billie started this tour in September 2024, announcing 81 dates across three continents, Oceania, North America and Europe. The tour is supposed to end by July 2025. Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour definitely stands out from all her other tours for several reasons. Apart from her groundbreaking performance, her setlist might be the main reason why this tour is “the best of both worlds”, as Miley Cyrus says.
The setlist is a mix of all her hit songs from her previous albums and the best ones from the latest album. She also performs “What Was I Made For”, her song from the Barbie movie. The song broke several streaming records across Spotify and Apple Music, including the most-streamed song shortly after its release. Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram were also overwhelmed with the amount of content utilizing the song. It also received praise from critics for its emotional depth and its power to further a viewer’s connection to the movie’s narrative.
The tour delivers an unforgettable blend of raw emotion and tender intimacy, captivating fans with powerful performances and soft, vulnerable moments.
“It was mind-blowing to see her live and how she pulled it off,” Eilish fan Kannamai Nitya says.
Concerts Standout Moments with soft surprises
Throughout the concert, Eilish excites her fans with astonishing surprises and defining moments. Throughout her career, Billie has been a great advocate for mental health, and she makes sure to educate her audience about this important topic during the performance. Before starting her song “Everything I Wanted” Eilish shares her personal growth and reflects on her struggles with anxiety and how difficult it can be for a person. This personal touch in the concert makes the audience feel closer to her, and eventually, they admire her more.
Kannamai Nitya, an Eilish fan, shared her thoughts after attending the concert at the Rogers Stadium in Toronto. She says “One of the most defining moments of the concert was when she asked the entire audience to stay quiet for a while and she performed a live loop of the song ‘When the Party’s Over’”.
“It was mind-blowing to see her live and how she pulled it off,” Nitya says.
In her interview with the New York Times, Eilish mentions that she loved doing her own vocal production and thought that this time she might bring that to the stage.
